The Foxrock Foundation (registered charity no. 803666) was set up to promote the literary and philosophical heritage of Samuel Beckett through the performance of his plays and the production of dramatic work inspired by him. Just before his death in 1989, Beckett gave his support for the Foundation, agreeing to become the founder patron.

The Foxrock Foundation also aims to contribute to and progress the way in

which Beckett’s work is taught in Higher and Further education institutions. The Foxtrock Foundation’s work is led by two young theatre directors, Julio Maria Martino and Chris White.

Krapp, 39 at the Tristan Bates Theatre

The Foundation’s re-launch production was the New York Off-Broadway hit Krapp, 39, which was produced by Foxrock and the Tristan Bates Theatre and ran from 22 November – 22 December 2010(no performances 6-12 Dec).

"a poignant and often hilarious study of a Hornbyesque  thirtysomething bloke who can't 'fold a shirt, pitch a tent, boil spaghetti', " The Observer

"An intriguing and often sardonic, self-deprecatory exploration of man's attempt to deal with isolation and rejection" - Whatsonstage.com

"A brilliant comic meditation on life, underachievement and the fact we are all edging closer to death" - The Stage

"This autobiographical theatrical masterpiece is definately worth seeing" - London Festival Fringe

Written and performed by Michael Laurence and directed by George Demas, Krapp, 39 is inspired by Samuel Beckett’s iconic play Krapp’s Last Tape. It won Outstanding Show at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2008 and was New York Times and Time Out New York’s Critic’s Pick.

When New York actor Michael Laurence (pictured), a lifelong Beckett fan, was about to turn 39, he felt inspired to create his own unique version of Krapp’s Last Tape.

The result, Krapp, 39, is a witty and moving portrayal of an actor on the eve of middle age as he examines his fears, failures and searches for love. His heart-breaking and hilarious self-scrutiny plays out through intimate audio tapes, archive video, raw journal entries, racy confessions and recorded conversations with the living and the lost.

Krapp, 39 in London is co-produced by The Foxrock Foundation and the Tristan Bates Theatre. Press night was on Thursday 25 November at 7.30pm.
